Therefore, I urge you brothers in view of God's mercy to offer your body as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you'll be able to test and approve what is God's will, His good pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1 & 2

Fact: emotions are not facts.

The recently widowed person may feel like they are living in the wilderness and that it is a dry wasteland without their loved one. But God promises that in His mercy, He will create that pathway through the wilderness. And He won't just reroute that river He will create a river in the dry wasteland.

God gave us some amazing assignments and, of course, He has empowered us to reach many of those goals—but we still have more to go!

Here are some tips about what to do or say if you know someone who has lost their spouse.

Outside, we find the touch of the Creator – beauty. Look at that mountain. Look at the clouds behind it. What an Artist created that!

God comforts us. We comfort others. And that chain of comfort goes on and on and on for the glory of God!

Some people have asked, “What about marriage? Will I be married in heaven if my spouse has preceded me? Will they know me? Will I be special to them in heaven?”

Jesus will carry us, and He will bear away our griefs and our sorrows, whatever may be concerning us today. He knows, and He cares. And He’s powerful to help us.

I want to encourage you to go and tell others what Jesus has done for you. It will change your life—and theirs!

God truly is the Husband to the widow. And He has promised us that He has given us everything we need for life and godliness!

I’m here today to talk with you about “Take Heart!” a book my old friend Chris Taylor and I wrote for widowed men. I want to show you how it fits into the Widows Project’s vision “to comfort the widowed in their distress.”

What’s behind us is the past. The present is gone like that. But we do have a future, and who we become is who we will take into that future.

The purpose of Re is to allow God to re-invent us; because when we’ve been widowed, when we are grieving, we have lost our identity.
