The Vine & the Branches

John Chapter 15 is one of my all-time favorite chapters in the Bible. It’s all about the Vine and the branches. Jesus said, “I am the true vine, and My Father is the Gardener” John 15:1). But He also says, “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples” (John 15:7-8).

Even in this time of bereavement when we’ve lost our spouse, as we abide in Him and He abides in us, we can still bear much fruit—not just a little tiny bit, not just barely enough to get by, but much fruit. There are people who are watching you to see how God is helping you during this time of your widowhood. And as you abide in Him and He abides in you, you can still bring God glory by bearing much fruit.
