Get Outside & Be Grateful - Pt 2

Hi. I’m Bruce, leader of The Widows Project’s outreach to widowed men, and I’m here with you today on beautiful Fidalgo Island – it’s a bit smoky from wildfires here today – at a place called Porpoise Point. I love this place. This is part two of a series I’m calling, “Get Outside and Be Grateful. I love this place – there’s mountains over here, and a steep trail. It takes me about an hour to get here from my house – a half hour drive and a half hour hike down a trail that goes like this sometimes. But it’s worth it. Here I am by the edge of the ocean, and you know, I’ve been here scores of times. I believe God led me to this place because it fills my tank. It fills me up – restores me and I’m in need of that today. And here I find all of that. I’ve been here scores of times, and only about five times failed to see porpoise. They bring their babies in here into the bay here and teach them how to fish. I get to watch it from up here on this little rocky bluff I’m on. That fills my tank. God knows that the sight of a porpoise brings strength and joy to my heart. So, He led me here, and He’s led me back here time and time again. I’ll tell you that coming time and time again amplifies the experience and improves the memory.

It may have been here, but it was in a place like this when I was talking with God and enjoying His creation, when I heard this phrase in my heart: “Creativity flows from Creator to creature through creation. Creativity flows from Creator to creature – create-ure – through creation.” And it does. I invite you to take that phrase and let it inspire you to get outside and be grateful. See you next time for part three.

Note: As I was packing up my things to go home after recording the video, The porpoises showed up! A couple of dozen, adults and babies learning to fish. I stayed a while and let them – and their Creator – fill my tank.
